Small Global: Extreme Energy – Oct 2013
Small Global – Extreme Energy – Exhibition documentation from D-Fuse on Vimeo.
Small Global: Extreme Energy is an immersive light installation that explores the ‘extreme energy practices of shale gas ‘tracking’ and oil extraction from tar sands.
The artwork was created out of a collaboration that I initiated as part of the 2013 Bloomsbury Festival, between academics and researchers from the School of Advanced Study’s Extreme Energy Initiative and the audio-visual art collective D-Fuse.
The project was funded by Arts Council England, and continues to tour around various venues. To date it has been shown at the Bloomsbury Festival, the London College of Communication (as part of ‘Green Week’) and in the Greenpeace field at the 2014 Glastonbury Festival. The latter iteration of the installation took me to Glastonbury for the first time, an experience that I have written about elsewhere on this site.
